News Outlets Take Ebola, Terrorism Panic Viral (Variety)

October 29, 2014 - 12:00 pm

"Be afraid. Be very afraid.” Although that memorable slogan comes from David Cronenberg’s “The Fly” remake, television has traditionally walked hand in glove with fear — a relationship that goes beyond the customary Halloween- themed episodes and annual returns of “The Walking Dead” and “American Horror Story.” Deeper-seated anxiety than usual, however, is dominating media these... ETC: MI police looking for hit-and-run driver who left zombie hospitalized (Autoblog)

October 29, 2014 - 11:35 am

Filed under: Etc., Government/Legal The typical way to kill a zombie is by destroying its brain. Anyone that's kept up on _The Walking Dead_ can list off a multitude of ways to accomplish this grim task ranging from guns, knives, swords, crossbows, street signs and any number of a range of sharp or blunt household objects. One northern Michigan man apparently opted to use his car and run down a zombie. A fair play, except for the fact that the walker he hit was actually 45-year-old Jeffrey Alan Stiles, a Halloween reveler dressed as one of the dead. Now, Stiles is going to be fine. His injuries were classified as "non-life- threatening" and he was in "good" condition at Hackey Hospital as of Sunday morning, according to _M Live_. Still, Ottawa County sheriffs are on the lookout for the driver that struck him. "While he was outside, he decided to walk along the roadway to scare cars, as he was dressed like a zombie for the Halloween party," Ottawa County's Sgt. Matt Wilfong told _M Live_. Sheriff's Deputies are asking for anyone with information on the incident to come forward. Contact information can be found on ...

Life After Beth (Blu-ray) (DVDVerdict)

October 28, 2014 - 7:00 pm

# The Charge "I never got to say goodbye to you." # Opening Statement Ten years after co-writing **I Heart Huckabees** with David O. Russell, Jeff Baena makes his directorial debut with **Life After Beth** -- a horror-comedy that could just as easily be called **I Heart Zombies**. The shambling undead are big business these days. Just ask the legions of fans who watch **The Walking Dead** for some reason. Brain eaters have even crossed over to independent films. Last year it was the zombie romcom **Warm Bodies**. This year it's **Life After Beth**, the story of a jilted teen so blinded by love he's willing to overlook the fact that his girlfriend is back from the dead and hungry for human flesh. # Facts of the Case Zach (Dane DeHaan, **The Amazing Spider-Man 2**) is devastated when his girlfriend Beth (Aubrey Plaza, **Safety Not Guaranteed**) is killed by snakebite. While his own parents (Paul Reiser, **Aliens**; and Cheryl Hines, **Curb Your Enthusiasm**) and brother (Matthew Gray Gubler, **Criminal Minds**) urge him to move on, Zach finds solace with Beth's folks (John C. Reilly, **Boogie Nights**, and Molly Shannon, **Wet Hot American Summer**). When they stop taking his calls ...

**Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews** Walking Dead #133 Image Comics Kirkman, Adlard, Gaudiano & Rathburn Walking Dead charges along as the tension builds and the action gets heavy. This issue reveals the threat facing Rick and company. While the concept of folks getting isolated and picked off one at a time isn't new to this series, the execution feels fresh but is far from perfect. This is a step towards some great conflicts and shaking things up. This is a good read all the way around and worth picking up. Full story » Original post blogged on ComicList.

The Wolves Of West Virginia Part 4: The Wolves Howl (SolarFlare?format=xml)

Geek Goggle Reviews: Walking Dead #132 (Comic List)

October 4, 2014 - 2:56 pm

**Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews** Walking Dead #132 Image Comics Kirkman, Adlard, Gaudiano & Rathburn Walking Dead rolls on with an issue devoted almost entirely to fighting against zombies. This is something we haven't seen in a long time and that is a welcome site at this point in the new direction for the book. It's a clever issue too as it explores the whole idea that zombies can talk now. The book seems to be turning towards a new set of villains to deal with and that is probably overdue. This is a pretty good comic book, but by Walking Dead standards it's an above average book. Full story » Original post blogged on ComicList.

The Walking Dead Retail Collection Announced (360Sync)

October 22, 2012 - 11:04 am

As Telltale's brilliant take on _The Walking Dead_ is nearing its conclusion, the publisher has pulled back the curtains on the series' retail editions. With a hopeful release date of December 4, _The Walking Dead_ retail edition will collect all five episodes of season one on one disc, wrapped up in a slick package. For those who have forgone the episodic releases in favor of a collected edition, fear not for price inflation; the standard retail edition will go for $29.99. But of course, it wouldn't be a retail release without a collector's edition, and _The Walking Dead_ packs a pretty sweet bonus in its special package. In addition to the game and an awesome box with art done by _The Walking Dead_'s Charlie Adlard, the collector's edition comes packed with _The Walking Dead Compendium One_, a 1,000+ page book that collects the first 48 issues of the acclaimed comic series. This is the perfect set for those looking for a gateway into _The Walking Dead_ universe, but it's a GameStop pre-order exclusive only, so you'd better pre-order it now!
